Cape Hatteras National Seashore expanded the size of a previously closed beach area this afternoon in Buxton, North Carolina. Construction work is proceeding for a $3.6 million project to raise and make repairs to the Double Keepers’ Quarters and other structures at Cape Hatteras National Seashore’s Ocracoke Light Station. The first phase of the $19.2 million project to restore and rehabilitate the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse will begin later this month. Once the project begins, varying closures of the grounds surrounding the lighthouse are anticipated.
